Keep the 20th of July in your heads. THAT’S the day. ‘City’ EP comes out in less than two weeks. clearly i am excited about this.
Thanks to everyone who has been coming along to the toff residency. The first 2 weeks have been sick. and looking very much forward to seeing some of you again at the last 3 shows.
So, i’ve also locked in the 24th of August for my EP LAUNCH, and it’ll be at the Workers Club. more info on that soon, regarding support acts and ticket info. niiiiice.
heres a snap of the front of the cd too. My sister gracey did all the artwork on the EP. so big up’s to her. She is pretty darn talented so get around to supporting her at facebook.com/graceycalninart
I’m feature artist this week on Triple J Unearthed, so if you wanna read the feature interview and listen to my new single ‘For My Help’ head to triplejunearthed.com/haydencalnin
and if you feel like it, feel free to leave a review of my songs, or rate the tracks! it’s always nice knowing what people are thinking.
Each monday night, this month at the Toff, I’m playing one obscure cover. Week one it was Hound Dog by Elvis, Week two it was Come What May from the musical film Moulin Rouge, so I’d love to get some suggestions from you for weeks three, four and five.
Rules are simple, it must be something that I would never usually consider covering, like hip hop, techhhheezzz, britney spears, or whatever. Just something weird basically. For the last 3 weeks, anyone who suggests something and i end up playing will get like a free mp3 or something. i dunno, i’ll work out some cool prize or something. So if you are at the show and you suggested the song that i cover, you’ll get a prezzie of some sort. I totally just made this prize idea up right then, so make sure i hold true to it if anyone does suggest the cover i end up doing…. seriously.
Anywhoo,
Keep in touch, as the EP is sooooo fu**ing close to its release.
Peace,
Hayden
Hey hey hey,
the last few months have been insane. I’ve been travelling a bit around australia with some absolutely brilliant acts. and i have to say i have met some pretty incredible people along the way.
Firstly, i would like to thank ‘Gossling’ for having me on her tour around australia, opening up the nights for her. Helen is an absolutely lovely lady and i feel so privileged to have been asked to go on the road with her.
Secondly, i would like to thank Matt Cotrby, again, for having me open up his Winter Tour at the F**KING amazing Forum theatre in Melboure. there were 3 SOLD OUT shows, and each night was incredible, and the responses i got from people who came to the shows has been quite overwhelming. and also a huge shout out to ALPINE, who are such lovely people and im a massive fan of theirs, so to be able to share the stage with them and hang out for a few days was pretty cool. YEAH.
Thirdly, i would like to thank Mat Mchugh (The Beautiful Girls), for having me as main support in both Sydney at the Standard, ad Melbourne at the Corner Hotel. He is a legend, and such a chiller dude. ah man. i like that guy a lot.
And finally, i would like to thank everyone who has been following my musical journey on facebook, twitter, and the likes. I’ve had a huge amount of hits lately, and more and more people are starting to discover my music, or see me at a show, and the response from everyone has been so cool. SOOOO, thanks!
The EP is getting there, seriously, it is. and i hope for all of you that have been waiting for it, that it is worth the wait! Now that i have a little time off doing shows and touring etc, i can really finish the beast.
Melbournians, be sure to come down to the Toff in Town on mondays in July. I have a residency there alongside a band called ‘Manor’ and I’m getting a band together for the shows. its gonna be killer!
YO! Haydo
Just want to say a big thank you to Matt Corby who recently had me open for him at 3 of his sold out Melbourne shows. AND I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be hitting the road with Gossling in April/May opening for her on her upcoming tour around Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
The ‘City EP’ is almost done, It’s down to the little touchy bits, and the artowrk has been finished! so it is getting there. Sorry that it’s taking so long. I recorded about 15 tracks, and I’ve cut it down to 5. It was pretty tough, and it’s taking a lot longer than i had originally hoped, but i do promise that it will be worth the wait. I’m very proud of what has been created, and i hope you all are too.
Be sure to come to my residency at the Workers Club on Sundays in April. Info is on the ‘shows’ page.
peace, H
Hey hey hey…..(den)
Firstly, thanks to everyone for visiting the site. Im getting some really nice feedback from people, which is super cool.
AND,
‘CITY’ is so close to being finished. all tracks are officially recorded. and now i just need to get them all mastered and have the artwork finished, and then you can get a copy!
I’ve got 2 shows coming up in the remaining month that is December. I’m playing at the Evelyn on Brunswick St, Melbourne, on my birthday (14th December) supporting the lovely Eliza Hull. She is fantastic, and it’ll be a really fun night.
Ive also got a show at the Toff in Town supporting Matt Corby on the 20th of December, but its SOLD OUT, so if you were not able to get a ticket, i guess all i can say is ‘dang’.
I’ve got some new music up on my soundcloud account (www.soundcloud.com/haydencalnin) and are in the process of uploading an unreleased track on triple J at the moment, so keep checking that out too.
Oh, and thanks to Telstra Road to Discovery, I’ll be playing up at Tamworth Music Festival on the 24th of Jan, so if you just so happen to be going, then come watch!
Thanks again for everyones support, and it’s nice to know people are listening, and checking out the website.
Cheers, thanks, yo!
Hayden
